Sharon Cuneta explains anew why there won’t be any reunion film with ex-hubby Gabby Concepcion

Thanks, but no thanks: Although the monetary and publicity rewards are undoubtedly tempting, Megastar Sharon Cuneta told entertainment columnist Ricky Lo that she’s not biting the bait. “The last thing I want to happen is for people to turn our lives into a circus,” she said.

Megastar Sharon Cuneta does not share ex-husband Gabby Concepcion’s enthusiasm for a reunion movie.

Speaking to entertainment columnist Ricky Lo, Sharon expressed that working again with Gabby would simply be too much for their personal lives to take.

In an article published today, April 2, in the Philippine Star, Sharon reportedly confided to Ricky: “We have both grown up and matured, and I am sure that he knows as well as I do that nothing would be worth doing together if it means our lives—meaning our lives with our respective espouses and children—would be disrupted, used, subjected to intrigue and pushed to the limits and turned upside down.” Read the rest of this entry »

EDITORIAL — Too many mouths to feed

April 2, 2008

The Philippines’ rice production is up, according to agriculture officials as they allayed fears of a rice shortage in the country. But just to make sure no one will suffer from a shortage of the country’s staple, the government is importing rice from countries including the United States.

If we have enough rice, why are rice prices soaring, and why are we importing the staple, including varieties that are sold by the National Food Authority at subsidized prices? This phenomenon must be similar to those rosy economy figures, whose benefits have failed to trickle down to the grassroots even after seven years of sustained growth. Read the rest of this entry »

LONDON – Some of England’s most sacred soil was disturbed Monday for the first time in more than four decades as archaeologists worked to solve the enduring riddle of Stonehenge: When and why was the prehistoric monument built?

The excavation project, set to last until April 11, is designed to unearth materials that can be used to establish a firm date for when the first mysterious set of bluestones was put in place at Stonehenge, one of Britain’s best known and least understood landmarks.

The World Heritage site, a favorite with visitors the world over, has become popular with Druids, neo-Pagans and New Agers who attach mystical significance to the strangely shaped circle of stones, but there remains great debate about the actual purpose of the structure.
