The entertainment press waited patiently during the premiere night of One True Love last night, November 18, inside Cinema 9 of SM Megamall. The lead stars, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Iza Calzado arrived after 9 p.m. and proceeded to greet their respective fans who showed their support by bringing posters and banners of their idols.
Iza’s fans showed their creativity by spelling out her name using colorful LED lights and every time she had a scene, they would put up the glowing banner. They fans were so enthusiastic that they punctuated their idol’s lines with their screams and even their commentary.
Marian addressed the crowd by saying, “Good evening po! Nasaan na ang mga Marian Knights? Nasaan na ang mga Dongyanatics? Sana po i-enjoy ninyo ang movie namin, kikiligin kayo, promise!”
Dingdong also gave a short speech thanking the huge crowd that turned up that night to see the public screening of his first movie with Marian. “Magandang gabi sa lahat ng kaibigan namin, thank you for being here…sa lahat ng pumunta dito at sa kabilang cinema [Cinema 10].”
Iza was introduced as a Pinay international actress for reprising her role in the Hollywood remake of the film Echo (Sigaw). “Sa lahat po ng mga fans nina Dingdong, Marian, sa lahat ng mga fans ng mga artista na kasama namin sa One True Love, maraming salamat po at sana maibigan ninyo ang One True Love,” she said moments before the movie directed by Mac Alejandre was shown to the press and the guests.
One True Love is about a neurologist named Migs (Dingdong) who is afflicted with isolated retrograde amnesia after getting into a motorcycle accident. He forgets that he is already married to a nurse named Joy (Marian). Instead, all that he remembers is that he is still in love with his childhood sweetheart Bela (Iza).
Among those who attended the premiere night were other stars of the movie such as Bianca King, who played the sister of Dingdong, and Jennica Garcia, who played the sister of Marian. Jennica’s boyfriend, Mart Escudero, watched the film together with Kapuso stars Dennis Trillo and Gabby Eigenmann. Survivor Philippines castoffs Kiko Rustia, Vehverly Gador, and Patani Daño were also spotted last night.
Co-produced by GMA Films and Regal Entertainment, One True Love will test the box-office power of the Dingdong-Marian tandem that has done so well in past Kapuso shows such as Marimar and Dyesebel.
Their next project together will be Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang, which is based on Carlo J. Caparas’s graphic novel of the same name. Prior to the screening of the movie, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to talk with Direk Joyce Bernal regarding her upcoming project with GMA-7, Ang Babaing Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang.
“Bukas pa lang kami makikipag-meeting with Direk Carlo J. Caparas. Action-suspense-drama ito. Si Dingdong yung nasa mabuting side then si Marian yung nasa masamang side, parang nasa sindikato. Para silang nasa light and dark side.”
Bb. Joyce says viewers should look forward to the action sequences to be done by both Marian and Dingdong in this GMA-7 TV series that will air by 2009.
One True Love opens today, November 19, in cinemas nationwide.
