Janno, muntik ng maging kapamilya

STARTING Saturday, November 15, the second season of “Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade V,” with Janno Gibbs as chairman of the blackboard, starts with a new set of whiz kids joining the singer-TV host in the Philippine franchise of the popular game show in the US, “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?”

When asked if he’d be brave enough to be a contestant in “Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade V?,” Janno says he’d probably reach only the early rounds. “I don’t think I can do it. Pero walang uuwing luhaan sa show na ito. Besides, even before the first season ended, I was already told we might have a second season. Hopefully, babalik talaga and I was happy with the emails we received that they enjoyed the show and they want it back.”

This is Janno’s first ever game show. And it has a different format. “It’s just about that you’d be able to guess the answers easily. Or you’ll really on pure luck. You really have to know the answers to win in every round,” said Janno. He even added that he learns a lot from the show, and from the kids as well.

He was asked to comment on the impending exit of Karylle from GMA as well as from their Sunday noontime program, “SOP.” “I’ve heard about that but we still have a chance to stop her. Ako talaga ay tagapigil. Inasar ko na nga siya. Sabi ko hindi ko na siya kakausapin pag lumipat siya,” Janno said in jest at the presscon “Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade V” at the 17th floor of the GMA 7 building along EDA Avenue last Sunday.

“Ako kasi nanggaling na rin sa ganoong sitwasyon na muntik na rin akong lumipat. Parang gusto ko na rin dati so I know the feeling. My loyalty prevailed. It’s hard to leave your friends here in GMA. They are like family already,” said Janno. “Wala nang Ogie Alcasid, or Regine Velasquez kung umalis ako. May kanya-kanyang reason kung bakit lumipat. Mayroon because of business decision. Mayroon dahil nagtampo. ‘Yung sa akin, dahil nagtampo ako.”
