Bea Alonzo considers 2008 as a lucky year for her, especially the last half, because she was chosen to portray the title role in I Love Betty La Fea.
“This is a lucky year for me. I’m so happy!” exclaimed Bea in an interview during the press conference for her newest endorsement, Belo Essentials, last Friday, October 30, at the Steak Town Restaurant on Sgt. Esguerra St., Quezon City.
She continued, “Sabi nga nila, ‘When it rains, it pours.’ Ngayon, nagpo-pour sa akin, sa buhay ko, ng maraming-maraming blessings. So thankful ako, sobrang thankful.”
For her 21st birthday last October 17, Bea said that her goal is to save her earnings. This was in connection with building a rest house for her family.
She told the media, “Next year, sana before mag-end ang next year, 2009, makabili na kami ng rest house. So, ‘yon na ang goal ko, so unti-unti na siyang natutupad. Naka-quota na nga ako sa nanay ko, e—mayroon na siyang bahay, mayroon na siyang business at saka mayroon na siyang kotse. So, it’s about time na pangarap ko naman.”
As a breadwinner, Bea said that she’s really working hard to help her family and to give something to her mother before she decides to settle down.
Bea further explained, “Kasi siyempre ako ang breadwinner. By the time na iiwan ko sila, ano ang iiwan ko, di ba? So, everything that I’m doing now is for them, hindi talaga para sa sarili ko. Kasi feeling ko, ‘yon ang mission ko in life, e, to provide until I can provide.”
Of course, while doing her responsibility for her family, Bea also makes sure that she treats herself once in a while for all the hard work that she did.
“This year ang talagang goal ko is to save,” reiterated Bea. “Kasi talagang ngayon lang ako hindi bumibili ng damit for the show, so talagang puro ipon, nasa bangko lahat. Ngayon lang ako nakakabili ng mas valuable na things, tulad ng siguro ‘yong investments like bags. Dati hindi ako nakakabili no’n kasi siyempre I’d rather spend on necessity ko, like ‘yong clothes that I’m gonna use for the shootings and tapings.”
Since she mentioned about buying a house for her family, does she also have a plan to buy one for herself?
Bea answered in jest, “Feeling ko naman hindi ko naman kailangan bumili ng house for myself. Siyempre, ‘yong husband ko na ang bibili no’n in the future, di ba?”
ENJOYING SINGLE LIFE. It has been a while since Bea had a relationship; the last time was with her one year and half boyfriend Mico Palanca. Although she’s currently linked to young actor Jake Cuenca, Bea said that there’s no romantic relationship between them.
She even told the media that this time she’s just focusing on work and her career. “Huwag muna mag-lovelife, papayaman muna ako,” Bea quipped. “Sabi nga nila, hindi talaga pinagsasabay, ‘no? Kasi, kapag may lovelife ka, steady lang ang career mo. Pero kapag wala ka namang lovelife, okay lang ang career mo.”
Aside from flourishing career, Bea also thinks that being a single gives her a chance to love herself and spend quality time with her loved ones.
Then, a reporter asked her, “Ang mga guys ba sagabal sa ‘yo at sa career mo?”
“Hindi naman sagabal na purposely nagiging sagabal,” she replied. “I don’t know, siguro kasi mas nagpo-focus ka doon, e. Kasi, ‘yon ang nagpapasaya sa ‘yo no’ng moment na ‘yon.”
Lastly, she noted, “Ngayon, parang ‘yong career lang alone, well, my career, my family, and my friends, nagpapasaya na sa akin. So, I can’t really ask for anything more right now.”
