On his 28th birthday, Dingdong Dantes simply wishes, “For things to fall in the proper place.”
Entertainment news reported that Dingdong Dantes was one of the crowd favorites during the biennial fashion event of Bench, Blackout: The Denim and Underwear Fashion Show.
Some of the spectators were even thrilled to see him slowly unzip his pants to reveal only his Bench underwear. Like his fans, Dingdong also felt excited to walk the ramp because it was the “first time, first everything.”
As one of the newest Bench Body endorsers, Dingdong said, “It’s [Blackout] more memorable, ‘yong [production], just like the pictorial, the process of how I prepared for it,” the hunky actor said when PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) visited the set of Dyesebel last July 29, in Subic, Zambales.
Although the audience inside the Big Dome expected to see their favorite celebrities wearing only their undies, Dingdong said that the fashion show was about much more.
“It’s not just about that. It’s a show, it’s fun, and it’s part of the tradition ng Bench—to showcase their talent and produkto nila. It’s a perfect venue na magsama-sama ‘yong mga taga-ibang istasyon, alam mo ‘yon, nagkakaisa lahat sila.”
Dingdong became hesitant when PEP asked for his opinion about the “most applauded” issue that came out after the event. Dingdong said, “Parang ayaw ko na munang mag-comment diyan, a.”
He explained that he did not notice the reaction of the crowd while he was walking on the ramp. “When I came out, wala akong nakikita, wala akong masyadong nakita, much more wala akong narinig. Ganun ako kapag concentrated sa ginagawa ko, parang nagkakaroon ako ng blackout talaga.
“So, ang focus ko lang talaga, e, gawin ko lang ang dapat kong gawin and tapusin ko lang ‘yon, ‘yon lang naman iyon. So, kung ano man ‘yong reaction afterwards, hindi ko siya nakita, hindi ko siya narinig.”
After giving his statement, Dingdong clarified that there was really no personal rift between him and Richard Gutierrez, whose moment on the show was overshadowed by Dingdong’s. “Never, never naman nagkaroon [ng rift],” he stressed.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS. Dingdong pays little attention to issues in the aftermath of Blackout since he’s already busy with work, especially this August, which is his birth month.
On Sunday, August 3, he will celebrate his birthday in SOP; his actual birthday though is August 2. Dingdong and onscreen partner Marian Rivera, who celebrates her 24th birthday on August 12, will be given a special treat throughout the show.
Their mother network is also planning a grand birthday celebration for Dingdong-Marian fans on August 27 at the Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City.
Dingdong has no idea yet about the details of the event. Instead, he just told PEP, “We’re planning to get together, ‘yon nga, birthday special para sa mga supporters namin. It’s going to be in Araneta [Coliseum]. Isa siyang malaking birthday special, lahat ng mga hits ni Marian, makikita n’yo doon, lahat ng mga kalokohan na puwede mong gawin, makikita mo doon.
“Masaya lang siya. It’s a fun party, iba ito sa nakikita ninyo sa TV, hindi kami uma-acting dito. We will still perform, mga kung anu-anong klaseng mga song and dance numbers. Kahit ako hindi ko pa alam kung ano talaga, pero I’m sure it’s going to be fun.”
Of course, Dingdong will not forget his avid fans, who have supported him since he started his career in showbiz. The actor said that the fans are also planning to give him a party on August 3.
“Actually, party nila para sa akin. Yearly ‘yan, e,” said Dingdong. “I really spend a lot time sa aking birthday na makasama ko sila, taun-taon, magmula nang magsimula ako. They are the same people that are still there, so mahalaga sila sa akin.”
On his 28th birthday, Dingdong said that he still wants to enjoy what he’s receiving right now. “Enjoy lang, wala pang masyadong seryosong [plan] at saka na iyan,” ended Dingdong.
