RP bags only 1 gold on Friday at SEA Games, with 16 silver, 6 bronze

The Philippines managed to bag only one gold medal on Friday at the 24th Southeast Games in Thailand, courtesy of Cecil Mamiit who retained his title in the men’s tennis singles.

Also on Friday, the other Filipino athletes garnered 16 silver medals and six bronze medals. The Philippines dropped to sixth place, with one gold, 88 silver, and 94 bronze medals.

Following is list of the Filipino athletes who got medals. according to results posted in the SEA Games website:

Silver medalists

  • Men’s baseball team composed of Charlie Labrador, Junnifer Pinero, Alejandro Velasquez, Rommel Roja, Ferdinand Recto, Roy Baclay, Andro Cuyugan, Ruben Angeles, Wilfredo Hidalgo Jr., Ernesto Binarao, Virgilio Roxas, Jonash Ponce, Nino Tator, Joseph Orillana, Christopher Jimenez, Jon-Jon Robles, Christian Canlas, Ruel Batuto, Darwin dela Calzada, Edmer del Socorro, Roel Empacis, and Rulgencio Rances Jr.

  • German Paz in the Olympic RS: X sailing event
  • Renerick Moreno in the formula windsurfing
  • Loraine Lorelie Catalan in the women’s under-51-kilogram taekwondo tournament
  • Men’s team in the 10-crews 500-meter traditional boat race (team composed of Ruperto Sabijon, Suhod Hakim, Rolando Isidro Jr., Ricky Sardena, Alex Sumagaysay, Jose Ijalo, Joemar Ocquiana, Junrey Dayumat, Manuel Maya, Diomedes Manalo, Ramie Llano, and Ric Nacional)
  • Women’s team in teh 10-crews 500-meter traditional boat race (team composed of Alejandra Orola, Marietta Alba, Amina Anuddin, Jinky Agustin, Mary Neth Bechayda, Ma.
