Filipino boxers in SEA Games second-rate, says Thai boxing chief

The president of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Thailand (ABAT) said that the Philippines should not have expected to win the boxing matches of the 24th edition of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA) Game because the Filipino boxers were their Team B.

”If they send their second-string team, they can’t expect to win,” General Taweep Jantararoj said in a report posted in the online edition of the Bangkok Post.

“I don’t know what they are trying to achieve by doing this, there was nothing wrong with the judging,” Taweep said.

The same report said that referees in the competition saw nothing unusual in the way the officiating was done.

”All the fights were judged fairly,” Jordanian referee Taha Mah Joub Yassi Alfityani said.

The report added that a referee from Vietnam – Van Hung Le – added: “The Thai boxers were better than the Filipinos.”
