Two quakes rocked Northern Luzon and Eastern Visayas early Sunday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The USGS said the first predawn quake rocked Samar province but no damage or casualty was reported.
The USGS said the quake measured magnitude 4.8 and was recorded at about 2:58 a.m.
Its epicenter was traced 160 kilometers (km) north-northeast of Guiuan town in Eastern Samar province. Guiuan is a third-class town with a population of 43,647 people in 7,618 households.
USGS also said the epicenter was some 180 km northeast of Tacloban City in Leyte, or 615 km east-southeast of Manila.
The second quake was recorded at 6:53 a.m., and the epicenter traced 160 km north-northeast of Ilagan, Isabela.
USGS said the epicenter was also 200 km east of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, or 455 km north-northeast of Manila. – GMANews.TV
